So, everyone was giving their opinions.

Some said they had already found “the one.” Others said, “Well, I’m still a child, so that should rest.” 😂

And I was like, “Yeah, you’re right.”

I just listened as she went on describing what she wanted in a man. She didn't say there was anything wrong with marrying someone who had money, but she said, “I want someone who would respect me, love me, hug me…”

And I thought to myself, Well, it's not like I'm in a rush to get there. It's going to be a long journey anyway.

But then, there's someone.

Someone with whom I was nowhere near being friends until I took the initiative to become his friend. I admired him, and we were cool. Then, there came a time when I felt like I was becoming obsessed with him. I would text him, only for the second message to be left on “read.” I found myself thinking about him way too much, and I knew I had to change that.

So, I prayed. The feelings faded, and life went on.

Or so I thought.

I don't know when it started, but I began feeling this slight ache in my heart whenever he talked to “her” after church.

Oh, no! I shouldn't hate or envy “her” because of this, I told myself over and over again.

Well, I began the year with a new resolution. I wasn't going to text him regularly anymore. Maybe after a few weeks, or even a month.

Along the way, I decided to give him a memorable parting gift on his birthday, and then… I thought I would quietly stop being friends with him.

It's been a whole lot of emotions, honestly.

But I've come to a conclusion.

Only God knows.

Maybe we won't end up together. Maybe I'm already convincing myself that it's impossible for us to ever end up together. Who knows?

But for now, there's this little friendship we have, and I'm curious.

Curious to know who he really is. His personality. What he's like beyond the little conversations we have.

I'm not saying I know where this is going. I'm not even sure I want to figure that out right now.

I just want to know him. 😏
